What are Village Ordinances?
Ordinances are laws adopted by the Village and generally govern matters not already covered by state or federal laws. Ordinances usually deal with maintaining public health and safety, zoning, behavior and general welfare.

​ There are generally three types of ordinances: 

• Police power ordinance (sometimes just called “an ordinance”) 
• Zoning ordinance 
• Budget or appropriations ordinance (also known by other names) (might also include personnel rules or addressing for 911.)
